Oral presentation and Young Scientists Best Paper Award at Chemietage 2026

The conference Chemietage 2026, organised by the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCH) took place from 21 to 23 September 2026 in Krems an der Donau. Simone Trimmel (Montanuniversität Leoben) presented results from TecEUS in the oral presentation “Biomonitoring with bees and bee products: Multielement profiles including technology-critical elements”. The presentation focused on the investigation of propolis, honeybees, pollen, honey, honeycomb and wax as complementary matrices for environmental biomonitoring. A total of 48 elements were determined by ICP-MS/MS, and multivariate statistical analysis revealed distinct matrix-specific elemental patterns.

The work was published earlier this year in the Springer journal Monatshefte für Chemie – Chemical Monthly (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00706-025-03425-2#Sec8). During Chemietage 2026, the publication was honoured by the GÖCH and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) with the Young Scientists Best Paper Award for papers published in Chemical Monthly.
